Flying within 5.5km of the Airport

The quick answer is yes it is possible to fly a drone within 5.5km of the airport, which is generally a no fly zone for any drone larger than 250g and permission must be sought through the governing body for airspace in Australia CASA the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. BUT if you are flying a sub 250G sized drone such as the DJI Mini 4 Pro and you are RPA certified you do not need special permission and are able to fly, whilst obeying the rules set in place by CASA.

This is important to know as many assume it is not possible to fly within this 5.5km radius surrounding the Airport.
